- Fee per property
- £897
Tower Hamlets selective licensing applies in Weavers, Whitechapel and Banglatown and Spitalfields to privately rented properties occupied by one household or a maximum of two occupiers.
The scheme covers 3 named wards. Two streets on either side of a ward boundary can end up with different answers, so checking the ward of the property matters more than the postcode.
Online new applications cost £897. A split online payment option is available: £422 on application (Part A) and £530 before grant (Part B); the council says paying in two parts has a higher administration fee.
Properties exempt from this scheme
- Properties controlled or managed by a local housing authority.
- Properties controlled or managed by registered social landlords and housing providers.
- Properties controlled and managed by police.

- Properties controlled and managed by a Health Service Body.
- Properties regulated by other enactments.
- Properties occupied by religious communities, except section 257 HMOs.
