Southwark selective licensing designations 1 and 2 apply in Faraday, Newington, Goose Green, Champion Hill and St Giles from 1 March 2022 to 1 March 2027.
The scheme covers a list of named wards. A street near the ward boundary needs the council's published map to be sure.
Paid in two parts: £661.50 on application (Part A) and £283.50 when the application is approved (Part B).
Properties exempt from this scheme
- Properties that can be licensed as HMOs under mandatory or additional licensing.
- Properties let by a local council or a registered provider.
- Properties already under a management order or empty dwelling management order.
- Properties under a temporary exemption notice.
- Owner-occupiers with up to 2 lodgers, holiday lets, long leases, business tenancies, religious community buildings, student halls and qualifying charity properties.
Discounts the council offers
- Gold Standard Charter landlords receive a 50% discount from their Part B fee.
- Gold Standard Charter landlords who have also signed up to Southwark's finders' fee scheme will not be charged the Part B fee.
- Registered charities receive a 50% discount from their Part A and Part B fees where they provide qualifying below-market or adapted housing.
