Leicester selective licensing applies to privately rented homes, including small HMOs, in designated parts of Braunstone Park and Rowley Fields, Fosse, Westcotes, Stoneygate and Saffron wards.
The scheme covers 5 named wards. Two streets on either side of a ward boundary can end up with different answers, so checking the ward of the property matters more than the postcode.
Paid in two parts: £1,032 on application and £258 when the licence is issued.
Properties exempt from this scheme
- HMOs required to be licensed under Part 2 of the Housing Act 2004 are exempt.
- Tenancies or licences granted by a registered social landlord are exempt.
- Houses subject to an Interim or Final Management Order under Part 4 of the Housing Act 2004 are exempt.
- Houses subject to a temporary exemption under section 86 of the Housing Act 2004 are exempt.
