Lambeth additional HMO licensing applies borough-wide to privately rented HMOs occupied by three or more people in two or more households, unless the HMO is subject to mandatory licensing or a statutory exemption.
HMO licence fees are £550 per habitable room for new applications and renewals. The first letting is paid in two parts: £366.67 Part A and £183.33 Part B.
Properties exempt from this scheme
- Buildings controlled or managed by public sector bodies including the council, registered housing providers, police, fire and rescue or health service bodies
- Buildings occupied by educational establishments or full-time students where the educational establishment controls or manages the building
- Buildings controlled or managed by qualifying co-operative societies
- Buildings regulated under specified Acts of Parliament or other enactments
- Buildings occupied by religious communities, except section 257 HMOs
- Single family dwellings occupied by one household or properties occupied by two persons who form no more than two households
- Buildings subject to a temporary exemption notice or interim management order
