Great Yarmouth selective licensing applies to privately rented properties in the whole of Nelson, Central and Northgate, and Southtown and Cobholm wards, plus listed streets in Yarmouth North ward.
The scheme covers the areas listed on the council's designation notice.
Paid in two parts: £200 on application (Part A) and £494 before the licence is issued (Part B). Part B reduces monthly for new applications made later in the scheme, but late applications are backdated.
Properties exempt from this scheme
- Properties let by registered social housing providers are exempt.
- Council-owned properties and properties let by other public authorities are exempt.
- Properties that require mandatory HMO licensing are exempt.
- Properties with a temporary exemption notice in force are exempt.
- Properties let on long leases over 21 years are exempt.
- Holiday homes are exempt.
- Properties occupied by a member of the landlord's family are exempt.
- Resident landlord properties where accommodation is shared with the tenant or licensee, such as a lodger, are exempt.
- Care homes and similar institutions are exempt.
- Business tenancies are exempt.
Discounts the council offers
