Blackpool selective licensing applies to privately rented properties in the eight inner wards of Bloomfield, Brunswick, Claremont, Talbot, Tyldesley, Warbreck, Waterloo and Victoria.
The scheme covers 8 named wards. Two streets on either side of a ward boundary can end up with different answers, so checking the ward of the property matters more than the postcode.
Paid in two parts: £354 at application (Part 1) and £418 if the application is successful (Part 2, subject to discounts), plus £95 per additional unit.
Properties exempt from this scheme
- Houses exempted under the Selective Licensing of Houses (Specified Exemptions) (England) Order 2006
- Properties subject to a tenancy or licence granted by a registered social landlord under Part 1 of the Housing Act 1996
Discounts the council offers
- £200 discount where the property meets the Blackpool Standard on inspection
- £20 discount per additional unit meeting the Blackpool Standard
- £100 discount for each property occupied by one household with an EPC rating of A, B or C where the Blackpool Standard is not met
- £20 discount per additional unit with an EPC rating of A, B or C
A landlord who qualifies for the strongest energy and accreditation discounts on this scheme pays around £572 instead of the headline £772 fee, a saving of £200.
